Free $2 MP3 Credit at Amazon

Amazon's at it again: You can get a $2 MP3 credit at Amazon.com by clicking here and entering the code "HITUMBLR."  Use your credits by 11:59 p.m. PST on April 1, 2012 or they'll expire.  These offers come around every month or two, so if you're more of an album person than a singles lover, you can piece together an album a song or two at a time during the course of a year.

  1. I will do that shortly. Thanks. Now for questions: I had one of these come up on my Amazon email. Can I post it for other people to use like you did? Or was that only for me? How can I give these one at a time or all at once to my grandson without giving him access to my Amazon account? I have only used Amazon a couple of times. Also, he wasted a credit I got him because it was not itunes, so he opened it and would not download it...about four years ago. He wanted to protect his ipod or laptop or something. That is commendable for a teen to be cautious. So, how can he be assured this is safe? He is older, so he may know more now...17 yrs old. Thanks.

    1. Hi, Linda. The codes that Amazon sends via e-mail are usually personalized (typically they're a series of letters and numbers) and can only be used once. If you want to pass your codes along to your grandson, you should be able to copy and paste them into an e-mail to him for him to apply to his account (provided you haven't already applied them to yours).

Amazon's MP3 downloads are compatible with iTunes (and unlike iTunes downloads, they are not protected, which makes them easier to share and compatible with more devices). I've been downloading MP3s from Amazon since they started selling them several years ago and the process is easy and secure. You do have to use a special Amazon download client, but you can choose to have your Amazon downloads immediately copied to your iTunes library (or you can save them to your hard drive and import them into iTunes yourself).

  2. Thanks, so I can just send him the link from above and let him get it?

    1. That should work, or he might even be able to go directly to Amazon and enter it in their "apply a credit" box. I'm not sure if that works with mass promos, but that's how he'd go about redeeming the unique codes you get via e-mail: he'd log into his Amazon account and find the link for applying credits to his account and enter it there.

It can be tricky to find that section, though, so if Amazon sends you a direct link for applying your unique codes, you can forward it to him and as long as he logs into his own account he should be credited properly.

  3. Thanks for this.
I use to get emails from deal bloggers....well I still do but I usually don't read them because they are pages long and full of crap, er deals, I don't want or can't use. It's not worth my time and effort to mine the hidden gems in the many posts they through off. Thanks for digging this nugget up and cleaning it up for me! lol

    1. It really is crazy how many deal blogs, especially the ones aimed directly at mothers, have stopped being about promoting deals and are instead about promoting a bunch of "pay only shipping!" trinkets that many readers who are pulling themselves out of debt should stay, far away from! The message is kind of depressing: "Here's how to save $5 on groceries this week, so you can spend $7 at this vitamin store I'm affiliated with instead! And by the way, even though what brought you here is an urgent need to save money, have you considered signing up for the new Discover card?"
